Carlita Gay is a singer-songwriter based in NYC. She uses her voice + creativity to honor the present and engage with the future she wants to see. Carlita loves using her deeply personal lyrics, collaborative spirit and imagination to inspire.
“Focus" is about tapping into your inner wisdom and listening to your own summoning power, especially when moving through challenging moments. Singer-songwriter, Carlita Gay, wants to encourage others to trust that deep voice, rather than putting energy on what no longer serves. The dream for “Focus” is to encourage connection with what is sacred within each individual to move towards positive change.
The music video for "Focus" was conceptualized and directed in collaboration with Carlita Gay, Tyisha Nedd and Nico Torres. Choreographer, Tyisha Nedd, envisioned three performers - Graciella Ye’Tsunami, Myssi Robinson, and herself - as representing different parts of Carlita within the video, as she moves towards her own personal transformation. The performers embody the stages one goes through when deciding a change is needed. The stages that they embodied are pre-contemplation, preparation, and action. Videographer, Nico Torres, beautifully captures the performers moving towards change through meditation, grounding, individual and collective movement.
